Oxymel Immune Booster

I absolutely love this recipe!! And swear by it as soon as I feel slightly run down or get a tickle in the throat. This method is also super adaptable and can be slightly tweaked with multiple herbs/ nutrients to provide different therapeutic effects!

My favorite oxymel to make is the immune booster!! Containing all the antioxidants, antibacterial and antiviral herbs and spices that aid in modulating, supporting and boosting our immune system.

Oxymels have been used for years as therapeutic way to take herbal doses that are tasty and easy to prepare using vinegar and honey. This recipe can also make as a delicious salad dressing!

Note; that because oxymels contain raw honey, please do not give this to an infant under 12months.

Ingredients

  • 10 garlic cloves

  • 2 ginger fingers

  • 1 heaped fennel seeds (optional)

  • 100ml apple cider vinegar

  • 40ml (2 tbsp) honey

  • Optional to add; Cayenne Pepper or chili flakes.

Method

Add vinegar to pan with seeds – gently warm without boiling.

Add honey, maintain heat

Add crushed garlic and thinly sliced ginger, gently warm without boiling.

Take 2 tbsp every couple of hours. Can pour mixture into jar and store in fridge – apple cider vinegar and honey have preservative properties as well as garlic to prevent this mixture going off.

(Store in fridge for a max 6 months)

Take at the start of feeling run down to help boost your immune system, and fight off nasties!
